The Story

Coming back home was not on my bingo card.

And everyone in my small hometown has questions that I’m all too eager to avoid.

It’s none of their business that my relationship imploded, that my ex-boyfriend cheated on me the entire time we were together, and that I have nowhere else to go. That after three months, I’m back with my tail between my legs.

All I want to do is move in with my best friend, grieve the future I left behind, and try to get my life back on track.

But then I meet Wells. He’s kind and generous, and he likes me for me. Only I can’t trust my own feelings, or that giving my heart away won’t end with it shattered all over again.

Just as I’m healing from heartbreak and learning to trust someone new, I’m hit with another tragedy, one I never expected. And I don’t know how to deal.

My grief has me wanting to hide, to push everyone away, but even after everything, I’m determined to embrace life, the heartache and the joy, and all that comes with it.
